What can I say? It’s been forever! I originally thought I would be away from the blogging world for a couple weeks — unfortunately it has turned into just over two months! This was not intentional and I have GOOD excuses! (Which will all be explained in due time over the next few blog entries, I promise)!
It has been such a crazy two months for me that it cannot all be explained in one blog post. There have been many ups and downs and the journey lately has been keeping me on my toes to say the least! But I am thankful!
My latest excuse (for the last few days) is that I have been glued to my TV watching the horrible happenings in Nairobi, Kenya. Many of your are obviously aware of the terrorist attack that is STILL on-going, nearly 48 hours later at a shopping mall in the city. Obviously this is of special interest to us as my husband is Kenyan, we have friends and family there and are not too far away in neighboring Tanzania. Our hearts are breaking right now for Kenya, this is such a tragic and senseless attack. We thank God that all of our family and close friends are safe, however we are starting to heart stories of friends of friends who have been tragically affected by this event. We are so sad.
However, despite the horror and sadness I am encouraged by the Kenyan people’s resilience and unity in these trying times. They have stood and continue to stand together, doing everything they can to help the victims. Thousands have shown up to give blood, hundreds to volunteer in whatever way they can. I am proud of the unity and courage that so many are showing in the midst of this tragedy. I pray that this attitude continues in the days, weeks and months to come as the aftermath of this event unfolds.
Our hearts are heavy and our prayers continue to go out to everyone affected, and we continue to pray for peace to be restored in Kenya.
